Part 9 Health & Safety -Virtual

Event runs from January 9, 2021 - March 27, 2021.

Part 9: The House - Health & Safety - 2012 (Virtual) 

This is a 37 hour basic Part 9 course on the plan examination and inspection of health & safety related aspects of the house. The course will be broken up into multiple sessions to facilitate virtual delivery via Zoom until such time as classroom delivery becomes viable again.  This is currently a registration of interest only. Actual course dates will be set once the minimum class size permits running the course. 

It includes the following topics:

An Introduction to the OBC; The House - General; Fire Safety & Protection; Chimneys; Fireplaces; Inserts & Solid-fuel-burning Appliances; Stairs; Guards; Insulation; Health & Comfort Requirements; Party Walls; Final Interior Inspection; Final Exterior Inspection; 
Recommended Prerequisites:           None

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF OAHI IN ORDER TO TAKE THIS COURSE. However, you may want to inquire about “Student” membership status in order to pay the 'member rate' for courses, and acquire all the other benefits of membership. A membership information package is available through the OAHI office. The order form is on the OAHI web site.

CANCELLATION/REFUND POLICY

No refunds will be given once the course is deternmined to be running and the student manuals have been ordered by OAHI.   If the class agrees, the Zoom sessions will be recorded. Students missing a session may  have access to the missed session. Note: All participants must agree to have the sessions recorded in order to do so.


COURSE FEES
The course fees cover tuition, $125 Student Manual and Certificate of Completion. The OBC Compendium is not included but may be purchased from the Queens Printer (lowest cost and fastest delivery) or Orderline.  Any accommodations or meals are to be arranged on your own.

Non-Member fee-$495.00 plus HST (Payable once course is running) 

Member fee-$450.00 plus HST (Payable once course is running) 

Note: Depending on class size we may have to increase the cost slightly to account for the cost of sending student manuals to the participants. The method of delivery of the end of course exam which participants will have to pass with 70% in order to receive a certificate is still under consideration.
