Home Inspector Training Courses
The Ontario Association of Home Inspectors only accepts courses from the following Ontario Universities and Community Colleges meeting the core educational requirements of the National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Standards of Practice (SOP). Private Career Colleges are accepted as equivalent to Community Colleges subject to applicable policy and including a competency exam by each student.
Community Colleges:
Algonquin College-Ottawa, Cambrian College, Canadian College of Business Science and Technology, Conestoga College, George Brown, Georgian College, Humber College, Mohawk College- Hamilton, Niagara College, Seneca College, Centennial College, Confederation College, Durham College (Ontariolearn.com only), Lambton College, Loyalist College, Northern College, Sheridan College, St. Clair College, St. Lawrence College, School of the Environment, Technology & Business at Sault College. Other colleges may offer Seneca College course through OntarioLearn.
Private Career Colleges:
Academy of Learning - Brampton, Carson Dunlop & Associates - Toronto
These courses may be available in class, online or by correspondence. Check your community colleges for availability. Some community colleges offer an enhanced home inspection program.
The Ontario Building Code courses are available through some colleges during the evenings and through the OAHI on selected weekends. The Defect Recognition & Reporting Course is only available through the OAHI on selected weekends.
Applicants should note that the Board of Examiners does not accept courses provided by private education provider other than Private Career Colleges who demonstrated equivalency to Community College delivery.
