Smart Inspectors For Smart Homes
An OAHI blast from the past is back. We’re returning to our OAHI Winter Workshop educational series.
OAHI WW24 will be held on Feb. 24, 2024 from 8:30 am to 5 p.m. at the Park Inn by Renaissance Toronto-Markham at 555 Cochrane Dr. in Markham, Ont.
This all-day event will feature four education sessions built around new technology challenges for home inspectors with a round table discussion over lunch.
A panel of experienced RHIs will assist the educators with the Q-and-A portion and relate topic-specific experiences from the field.

The four sessions will be:
1. New Energy Efficiency Upgrade Mismatches with Existing Equipment (Depressurization Risk) by John Harris. John will provide an in-depth exploration of new energy upgrade inefficiencies due to mismatches with existing equipment in the home.
2. An Inspector's Approach to Home Automation by Justin Hines. Justin will provide an overview of what sort of smart home technology clients are looking for.
3. Electrical Vehicle Charger and Generator Installation Challenges by Karl Klos: Karl will discuss some of the challenges of installing EV chargers and generators in existing housing.
4. Smart HVAC Controls Outsmarting The Home Inspector by Terry Carson, RHI. Terry will discuss the various thermostats and controls that may be encountered, and strategies for conducting the inspection.
The cost is $199 plus 13 per cent HST and seating is limited so register asap. Lunch and coffee breaks will be provided.
