Dear Home Inspection Professional,

The COVID-19 outbreak has been an unprecedented event that has impacted many aspects of the real estate marketplace, including the new home warranty. Tarion is monitoring the public health situation and would like to share updated information about some of our services and the warranty process.

At this time, the Emergency Order that suspends timelines associated with repair periods, warranty form submissions and conciliations is in place until September 11, 2020. Understanding the impact that these ongoing delays are having on homeowners, Tarion has determined that, with the appropriate health and safety protocols in place, we will re-start inspections on July 13, 2020 and reinstate timelines on August 27, 2020.

Homeowners and condo corporations with warranty claim submissions, performance audits or requests for conciliation due between March 16 and September 11, 2020 will have until September 11, 2020 to submit warranty forms, performance audits or requests for conciliation.

We encourage you to read and share with your clients the following resources which outline important information that explains when the timelines will be reinstated and how this will affect warranty form submissions, repair periods and requests for conciliation.

Additional resources regarding the impact of COVID-19 may have on warranty related matters can be found on our website.

As we navigate this return of timelines and in-person activities, we will continue to provide information and guidance to assist homeowners and builders across the province. If you have any questions about how the information in this email relates to your business or clients, you can reach our COVID-19 response team by email or by calling 1-877-982-7466.
